Summary and Response to John Gatto’s Article Essay Example for Free

Summary and Response to John Gatto’s Article Essay New York teacher John Taylor Gatto began admitting to himself that he want to quit teaching anymore in a public school after his 26 years of service, and his reason for this is the old system of educational curriculum that he said hurt children in any way it could while letting them learn. He even compared the school system to the training ground for animals. It was as if he condemned the lack of participation of parents in the formal schooling, and even exaggeratedly labeled the schools as killers of family orientation by stealing golden times of childhood and formative years and teaching children to disrespect their homes and parents. He then understood that he does not want to be a part of the systematic teaching on how to fit into the world as he ironically admitted how he wanted not to live in this world that he described as full of vulgarity, inequality, dependency, and so on and so forth. One example of dependency and inequality or discrimination of education system has been illustrated when he gave the case of Rachel and David. He explained the injustices of the system by demonstrating the usual notion that when the latter learns to read faster than the other, the tendency to depend on the system of the latter is much likely to emerge. On the other side, when the former would be marked as the learning disabled being too slow to read, she might then be categorized as it is all her life. John Gatto recognized the mere fact that the curriculum of education remains unchanged even if reforms kept on placing time after time. He was a self-confessed teacher although he was uncertain that he himself is an educator because he was no longer a believer of a stereotypical routine-like type of teaching. He knew that there are other ways in teaching kids without hurting them badly. He ended his article by placing a friendly appeal to the public of offering him jobs that would not hurt kids just to make a living for himself as he would soon be free to accept new job. As a response to Mr. John Taylor Gatto’s article published on The Wall Street Journal, I want to give him kudos for being true to himself. I do understand his sentiments as he expressed uncertainties of teaching profession that fell outside of his own principles in life. However, it is unclear to me his real intentions of publishing the so-called pre-resignation letter in a much read newspaper. It seems that he has just instantly realized all of these in just a snap. Otherwise, he only have the guts to stood for his own beliefs and takes the opportunity to address his life long sentiments just after 26 years of serving public school as a teacher. For me, the radical adventure of government schooling, as said by Mr. Gatto, would be the best way to teach and discipline kids during their formative years. Parents are born to support and raise their own kids, and there is neither a licensure exam nor school for such. Teaching profession has, which means that teachers are valid to take charge on a step by step formation. Besides these teachers might also be the product of the old education system that Mr. Gatto is trying to denounce. Lastly, and to clarify my own points of view, my belief to the old norm of public schooling is not comparable to my recognition John Taylor Gatto’s life lesson and his more than two decades and a half of being a sincere teacher even if he does not want to be called educator ever again. Sony Corporation History: In January of 1958, the already well-known and successful Japanese electronics company, Totsuko, adopted â€Å"Sony† as it’s new corporate name. This new name, â€Å"Sony†, was an original brand name that was originally applied on Totsuko products. Even though Sony is well known for being a leader in audio-visual electronics and information technology for consumers at home, they also have reached out to larger businesses worldwide. In 1978 they formed Sony Broadcast Ltd., which focused on providing broadcast stations the best, quality products and services. This branch of the Sony Corporation is still very successful today. Sony has gone on to form a chemical corporation as well, which can provide physicians, doctors, and researchers with certain measuring and necessary tools. Product Mix: Sony Corporation’s product mix is comprised of many different products targeted towards many different market segments. Almost every Sony product though can be placed under the category of â€Å"electronics†. They sell products and services globally such as televisions, VCR’s, stereos, computers, memory devices, video game systems, digital and non-digital cameras and camcorders, Lithium batteries, fingerprint ID units, certain measuring equipment, and even shatter proof film for glass through their chemical corporation. Workforce: The workforce of the Sony Corporation is very large. For the fiscal year that ended on March 31, 2001, it was estimated that 181,800 total people were employed for the Sony Corporation. Of this total, 23,000 employees are currently working in U.S. plants and offices. GFR and Ret51

A) GFR and Ret51 both are receptors, GDNF is found to promote PNS development and kidney morphogenesis through the receptor complex consisting of GDNF family receptor 1 (GFR1) and the other receptor tyrosine kinase (Ret). Ret signal transduction is increased by translocation of GFR. GFR-mediated Ret activation is essential too for the kidney morphogenesis and for various other functions of abdominal precursors that form abdominal nervous system. Also, GFR has many lipid rafts because its GPI anchorage, but Ret is expelled from lipid rafts. In this paper, the gene replacement for GFR in mice results GDNF resulting in Ret activation but prevented its translocation into lipid rafts. These mice showed renal agenesis, and other disorders including loss of the enteric nervous system, and defects in motor neuron axon path similar to GFR mice that was knocked out, all this provided evidence along with lipid rafts GFR is also needed for neurotrophic factor signaling. B) Primary considerate neurons secluded from Gfr1and Gfr1TM/TM mice were maintained in vitro for some days. Then they treated the neurons with GDNF or medium for exact time of 15 minutes. The Detergent-resistant membranes quarantined from the neurons were examined by immunoblotting for Ret51. The comparative purity of detergent resistant and detergent soluble fractions was confirmed by using immunoblotting for caveolin and transferrin receptor, respectively B, the experiments shown in A, were computed and graphed. Otherwise, Substantial decline in the amount of Ret51 was recorded statistically that translocated into lipid rafts while GDNF stimulation in Gfr1TM/TM neurons compared with Gfr1 neurons. Similar Results were obtained after performing the experiment four times. Moreover, Lipid raft translocation experiments were performed to prove the concept that GDNF/GFR1/Ret complex does not translocate into lipid rafts in Gfr1TM/TM mice. Primary sympathetic neurons from Gfr1/ and Gfr1TM/TM mice were used to extract detergent-resistant membranes. Upon stimulation of Gfr1/ neurons with GDNF, Ret translocated quickly into lipid rafts. This was a contrast to Gfr1TM/TM neurons that an evident reduced movement of Ret into the detergent-resistant was recorded because of GDNF exposure. A small portion of Ret that did translocate into lipid rafts while stimulation may be owing to Ret kinase-dependent translocation of Ret into rafts that occurs with slower movements. There was a significant, 75% reduction in the kinetics of the Ret receptor complex into lipid rafts during GDNF exposure in Gfr1TM/TM neurons according to computation made by these experiments. C) The negative control design here for confirming the results that Ret doesn't translocate into lipid rafts during GFL activation in Gfr1TM/TM neurons, the primary sympathetic neurons isolated from Gfr1/and Gfr1TM/TM mice will be grown in the same way as test ones, with the only difference that there will be no treatment with GDNF or medium for 15 minutes, and the impact of this will confirm the result to much greater extent upon immunoblotting.

The Analysis Malala Yousafzai, The Eldest Of Three, And...

In the past, the word hero has held a symbol for many of a man in a tight blue spandex suit with superhuman abilities, who on the side nonchalantly saves the world every time. Now, we say the word hero, and suddenly normal, everyday people pop into our heads. We no longer deem heros to have superhuman abilities, but merely a prodigious heart. Society see us by the reflection of our deeds. As the world continues to face horrific problems of injustice, we have seen people rise from the masses, through the power of their passion and dedication. Malala Yousafzai was the eldest of three, and the only girl. Despite Pakistan’s constricting regulations on women, Malala’s father vowed to do anything to support her dreams. Malala began to fight the ban on women’s education however her stance quickly endangered her life as the Taliban had taken control of her valley. They had banned girls from attending school, but Malala insisted on attending and raising awareness by part icipating in interviews, writing diaries and giving speeches. In October of 2012, Malala was shot in the head by the Taliban while traveling on her school bus. This horrific attack made international headlines and brought her story to the masses. Malala Yousafzai is a hero because she selflessly dedicated her life to promoting women’s education, and never gave up her fight, despite all the challenges and dangers she faced. Malala grew up amidst the Taliban reign, which tightened the restrictions on women. Her strong
